Everyone loved Mr. Mitchels. He was the kind teacher who remembered every student’s name and always had a smile. Parents trusted him. He made learning feel safe.
Then Ellie came home with a drawing. A simple picture of a man labeled “Uncle.”
Prue froze. Ellie had no uncle.
She asked Ellie who the man was. Ellie said, “Mr. Mitchels.”
Prue’s heart raced. She had met Mr. Mitchels. He was kind. But why would Ellie draw him as an uncle?
The next day, Prue asked Mr. Mitchels about the drawing. He smiled and said, “Ellie has a big imagination.”
But Prue couldn’t shake the feeling something was wrong.
Weeks later, Ellie came home with another drawing. This time, the man was labeled “Daddy.”
Prue’s blood ran cold. She asked Ellie where she saw this man. Ellie said, “He came to our house.”
Prue didn’t know what to think. She called the school. They said Mr. Mitchels had no record of visiting students’ homes.
Prue decided to investigate. She asked neighbors if they’d seen Mr. Mitchels. No one had.
Then, one evening, Prue saw a car parked outside her house. It was Mr. Mitchels’ car.
She confronted him. He denied everything.
Prue called the police. They found out Mr. Mitchels had been using a fake name. He had been visiting students’ homes for years.
He was arrested. The community was shocked.
Ellie was safe. But the trust in Mr. Mitchels was shattered.
