Elon Musk has announced several new battery technologies for Tesla in 2025, including lithium ion phosphate (LFP), solid state, and sodium-ion batteries. These technologies are expected to improve energy density, efficiency, and range.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk has unveiled a series of advances in battery technology that he claims will revolutionize electric cars.

Speaking at Tesla’s Battery Day event on Tuesday, Musk described the advances as “a massive breakthrough” that would dramatically increase the performance of electric vehicles while making them more affordable.
Tesla’s new lithium-ion battery design will transform the way energy can be stored and charged within a battery, delivering five times more energy, a 16 percent increase in range and 500 percent more energy.
Along with other advancements, Musk said this will allow Tesla to produce an electric car priced at $25,000 within the next few years.
“There is so much lithium on Earth that it is possible to convert all the cars in the United States into electric cars.”
The breakthroughs will make car batteries 56 percent cheaper and enable production of Tesla’s first truly affordable vehicle.
Tesla currently has four vehicles on the market – Model S, Model 3, Model X and Model Y.
